Day 1: Visit the historical Phoenix Town
"One of the two most beautiful town in China"----the historical town of Phoenix, is at a geographically important location point that connects Huaihua Hunan and Tongren Guizhou together. It’s next to Tuo River and the central town for Miao People in the west of Hunan Province. It’s the hometown of Mr. Sheng Congwen, the famous author of China.
Phoenix Town has wonderful natural landscape and abundant attractions. Ancient temples, pagodas, pavilions, palaces, along with its beautiful parks, etc have attracted tourists since the ancient times. Many TV shows were produced here. Phonix Town is also a cradle for famous people, Sheng Congwen and Xiong Xiling both spent their childhood here. Our journey starts here with fantastic views.
Day 2: Tour of Zhajiajie National Forest Park including sights of Huangshi Village(Yellow Stone Village) by cable car, Golden Wipe Stream, Water-winding Four Gates, Yellow Dragon Grove.
[Huangshi Village] gets its name from a hermit named Huangshi who had lived here. With average altitude at 1200 meters above sea level, this village is largest view platform in Zhangjiajie. Surrouding this area, multiple peaks stand high like giant bamboo shoots reaching to the sky. The broken rocks and cliffs distributed along Jinbian rivulet with wild canebrake and ancient trees make a wonderful original scene! Rivulets spread out among mountains like colored ribbons. Viewing mountains on the top of Huangshi village, you can't help sighing with emotion for its great momentum and ever changing spectacle. There are old sayings , "Never been at Huangshi Village, never been at Zhangjiajie."
[Golden Whip Stream] is located in the east of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and gets its name from the famous Jinbian Rock which lies in its headwaters. Meandering from west to east among fantastic peaks and valleys, it stretches to 8 kilometers. Water vivifies the mountains and mountain directs the water. The views differ from each step and make Jinbian Stream a dreamland of picture and poem. In a sunny autumn day, when walking along the Golden Whip Stream, at the 5 kilometers to the headstream of Golden Whip Stream, you will find that your reflection turns into three.
[Water Winding Four Gates]：
In this special location, Long-wei Stream flows from the south, Yuanyang Stream winds its way from the north, and Golden Whip Stream runs from the west. These three waterways combine to form a fourth one - Suoxi Stream which blends their strength in an eastward direction. Hence, four streams run out through four valleys here. Thus the name "Water Winding Four Gates" comes into reality.
[Yellow Dragon Cave]：The Inside of Yellow Dragon Cave is more beautiful than the outside world. "Day or night, without fears of rain or wind, all year long, you can delight in its wonderful scenery.” The cave benefited from its air circulation, is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Yellow Dragon Cave is one of the most striking scenic areas in Zhangjiajie, and was rated as one of the first 4A National Tourist Attractions in China. Also it has been honored as "the magical karst cave both in China and in the world". The statistics of the natural wonders includes: one natural reservoir, 2 underground rivers, 3 pools, 4 waterfalls, 13 grand halls, 96 passageways and hundreds of thousands of stalagmites, columns and stalactites.
Day 3: Continued tour through Zhajiajie National Forest Park and surrounding areas. Sites include Emperor Mountain, Marshal He Long Park, Yuanjiajie, Ten Li Gallery, etc.
[Emperor Mountain] is a typical sandstone formation, characterized by a multitude of densely gathered peaks，enjoying a reputation as “the king of all mountains”．“Once you behold the awesome face of Emperor Mountain，it is unnecessary to venture elsewhere!"
[Marshal He Long Park]：The local government built this park in l 985 to commemorate Marshal He Long． Marshal He Long was a beloved general in modern Chinese history. This park functions both as a cultural scenic spot and a center for patriotic education．A Chinese-made J-6 fighter jet is exhibited here, as well as a T-34 Russian tank，which the marshal once rode, but the symbolic centerpiece of this site is the bronze statue of Marshal He Long.
[Yuanjiajie] is a place where “People walk on the mountain’s edge, and clouds rise from beneath the feet". In Yuanjiajie, every person senses an intimacy with the mountains, so much that you get the impression that you could almost touch them．A multitude of peaks arise from the deep valley，making their appearance all of a sudden. When you least expect it, a rush of surprise and wonder emanates from your heart, causing you to feel so joyful and contented.
Located in the northwest part of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park，Yuanjiajie is a naturally formed platform mountain．Surrounded by higher summits which are divided by deep valleys in between．Added to this scene is an array of amazing lesser peaks and grotesque rocks． Each one stands in the valley and possesses its own peculiar shape． The foremost attractions in this area include：Back Garden．Mihun Stage，and the First Bridge under the Sun．
[Ten Li Gallery] or Ten Mile Gallary： A clever and enterprising barber opened a beauty shop and named it “Ten Li Beauty Shop”-Ten Mile Beauty, which reminds people of the wonderful scenery of this place, and brings the owner a thriving business．From such an anecdote, we can imagine the fame and attractiveness of this gallery．Someone has aptly noted that Ten Li Gallery is a “painting” produced by Great Nature and was done at the zenith of her imagination and her unsurpassed skills! The valley extends 4 kilometers and is wider than the Golden Whip Stream．All of the amazing peaks and captivating rock formations have developed on both sides of the valley before merging into a single, endless line. As a visitor walks into the valley, it’s as if he or she is stepping into a graceful portrait of mountains and waterways．On the journey, one encounters such scenic spots as：the God of Longevity Greeting Guests, the Herb Picking Old Man, and the Three Sisters Peaks． |
