Wuxi
The Grand Canal of China runs across Wuxi, a city in the south Jiangsu Province bordered by Tai Lake to the south and Suzhou to the east, about 128km from Shanghai. Wuxi is both a major industrial city south of Yangtze River, “a land of fish and rice”, and a tourist city. The 2000-square-km Tai Lake, or Lake Taihu, is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China, spans both Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces. Wuxi is also famous for its classical gardens. The most popular ones are Jichang Garden and Li Garden. Wuxi also stands out for its gracious mountains like Mt. Ling. There is no lack of scenes and sights to see in the three cities under the jurisdiction of Wuxi - Jiangyin, Yixing and Xishan. History, high art, purple pottery as well as sceneries are well worth a trip together.
