The northern part of the Heilongjiang Province, one of the northern-most province of China which borders Russia, has long winter and barely any summer. Hainan Island at the south of China, in tropical and sub-tropical zone, has long and hot summer but barely sees any winter. The middle part of China on the plain along Huai River running east to west, sees distinct four seasons. Yunnan Province, located on Yunnan-Guizhou plateau southwest of China, can feel spring all year round. In the northwest regions, the temperature changes drastically between seasons or even in between one day. High tundra zone in the southwest of China on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau however, endures low temperature all year round. China’s desert areas are mostly located in the west of China.
